Sighting Overview:
While driving home on Highway 14 from Rochester with my wife, I spotted an unusual object shortly after 7 PM. The area is known for air traffic, given the proximity of a small airport in Rochester and the larger Minneapolis airport about 80 miles to the north. However, this craft exhibited an odd strobing light pattern that seemed non-compliant with FAA regulations. It was flying relatively low—I’d estimate around 500 feet—and appeared to move at the speed typical of small planes.
I was unable to discern its shape clearly, but my wife thought it looked circular, whereas I couldn’t identify any distinct silhouette. I rolled down my window to listen for sounds, but due to the road noise, I couldn’t be certain if it was silent. It felt as though it was flying directly above us, and I managed to catch a glimpse from my sunroof.
Having followed the UFO phenomenon for years, I find it challenging to maintain objectivity. Nevertheless, I’m sharing this experience, despite the poor quality of the video recorded with my iPhone 14. I’ve read that many who witness such phenomena report feeling a mental connection with the craft. I didn’t experience that sensation; however, just moments before spotting the object, I had a fleeting thought wondering if the recent lack of significant UFO revelations might indicate it’s all nonsense. Given how often I ponder UFOs, it’s likely just a coincidence, but I thought it might be an interesting detail to share.
Thank you for sharing your sighting experience! It sounds like a very intriguing encounter, especially with the unusual light pattern and the low altitude. The fact that the lights formed a cross shape is particularly interesting, as it deviates from typical aircraft lighting configurations.
It’s understandable to feel a mix of skepticism and curiosity about UFOs, especially after following the topic for years. Your thought process before the sighting and the lack of sound from the object certainly add another layer of intrigue to your experience.
I wonder if others in the area noticed the same object or if there have been other reports around that time. It might be worth reaching out to local organizations or even checking social media for any similar sightings. Thanks again for posting!
