Was taking photo of the moon because it looked spooky. After viewing photo, what is this green oval shape?? You can see the red cell tower light, so I assume it’s not distortion?

I was capturing a photo of the moon because it had a really eerie vibe. But when I looked at the picture, I noticed this strange green oval shape! You can also see the red light from the cell tower, so I don’t think it’s a distortion. What could it be?

  1. That green oval shape could be a few different things! One possibility is that it might be an artifact from the camera lens or sensor, often referred to as lens flare or ghosting, especially if there are bright lights in the scene like the red cell tower light.

Another possibility is that it could be a reflection or refraction caused by something in the atmosphere, like light interacting with particles in the air.

Lastly, it might also be worth considering if there was anything in the foreground (like a tree or building silhouette) that could have created an optical illusion in the photo.

If you’re curious, try taking another shot with slightly different settings or from a different angle to see if the shape changes or disappears!
