Tell me what I’m seeing in the sky is the norm.

I’d like to share something unusual I’ve observed in the sky lately.

On March 7th and March 10th, around 1 PM, I spotted a strange flat object in the North Austin, Texas hill country. Unfortunately, I didn’t manage to get a photo, as these sightings happen too quickly, and I’m not sure a picture would capture what I’m seeing effectively.

My initial thought is that it could be a trapezoidal sheet of aluminum flying a couple of thousand feet up—perhaps something swept up by a tornado that I wasn’t aware of. This is the second time I’ve noticed this object; it glides smoothly across the sky, and while I can’t confirm if its underside is reflective, I see only the sky and maybe one or two edges. It almost seems cloaked. When the object dips, especially when it moves closer, I do get a clearer view of its shape.

There’s no visible means of propulsion, and it maintains a flat profile as it continues in the same direction. While it doesn’t seem to exhibit playful behavior, it occasionally dips or does quick movements that reveal its top side briefly. It’s puzzling and intriguing. I wonder if anyone else has experienced something similar.

  1. It sounds like you’ve had some intriguing observations! While what you’re describing doesn’t match typical aircraft behavior, there are a few possibilities to consider. Some people have reported seeing unusual aerial phenomena that could include drones, experimental aircraft, or even high-altitude balloons.

The lack of visible propulsion and the flat shape you mentioned could potentially align with some types of stealth technology or unmanned aerial vehicles, which are designed to minimize detection. On the other hand, if the objects appear sudden and move erratically, they could also belong to unknown phenomena in the atmosphere.

If you’ve experienced this twice now and would like to deepen your investigations, it might be worthwhile to check local aviation forums or community groups. People in your area might have noticed similar sights or might have insights into experimental craft operating in North Austin. Sharing your experience could help connect you with others who have observed the same thing!
