My Mother the Mantis: The Extraordinary True Story of Sondra X.
By Preston Dennett
Sondra X. was born in 1940 in the sunny shores of Long Beach, California, and her unusual experiences began at just a few weeks old. One morning, her mother was shocked to discover baby Sondra levitating above her crib. This was merely the start of a lifetime filled with the extraordinary.
At three years old, Sondra pondered the arrival of her younger brother and ventured outside to play. To her astonishment, she discovered she could summon the wind and even make it snow. In 1946, Sondra’s father, a high-ranking Naval officer, was appointed as an attaché to a Navy Admiral, which led the family to reside in the historic Swiss Embassy in Tsingtao, China. It was here that Sondra’s unique experiences accelerated rapidly.
Sondra attended school run by nuns, who were baffled by her ability to keep fresh flowers alive far longer than usual. They were equally impressed by her extraordinary academic skills and understanding of human anatomy. Unbeknownst to them, Sondra, who dreamed of becoming a doctor, had a clandestine visitor imparting knowledge about human biology. Stuck in a foreign land and not permitted to leave the compound, Sondra found a way to explore the city—by projecting herself out of her body and soaring through the skies.
In the summer of 1947, as unrest stirred in the country, Sondra’s family was evacuated to Albuquerque, New Mexico. They settled in a rural area where Sondra befriended a local Navajo girl, often biking the mile to her home. One day, at eight years old, she sought permission from her parents to visit her friend. With their consent, she set off on her bike but never arrived.
After a frantic seven-hour search, her family found her dazed and seemingly unaware of her surroundings alongside the highway. When questioned, Sondra claimed she couldn’t remember what had happened, although the truth was so remarkable she doubted anyone would believe her.
She recounted riding along the desolate highway when an ominous shadow appeared before her. Glancing up, she was awestruck to see a dazzling silver craft descend silently. As the craft landed and a door opened, a tall figure emerged. To Sondra’s astonishment, it resembled a giant praying mantis. The creature gestured for her to approach and, filled with curiosity rather than fear, she complied. The mantis assured her, “I am your mother,” and welcomed her aboard.
Inside the craft, Sondra was amazed to see that it was much larger within than it appeared outside. The mantis, warm and nurturing, led her to a spacious round room with portholes. There, she encountered small, chirruping beings that played with her hair and clothes. Initially mistaking them for children, she quickly recognized them as extraterrestrials known as “grays.”
Sondra was drawn to a porthole, where she was taken aback by the breathtaking view of a field of stars, with Earth and the moon suspended in the void of space. The mantis then guided her to a panel that projected vivid, lifelike images of soldiers, tanks, and explosions. “These are visions of future wars,” it explained, stressing the importance of sharing this knowledge with others. Confused, Sondra pondered how an eight-year-old child could make anyone believe her.
In an instant, she found herself back home, surrounded by a frantic family trying to piece together her disappearance. Although she later shared her experience with friends at school, they dismissed her claims as childish fantasies. However, her grandmother listened, revealing her own encounters with strange
What a fascinating and intriguing story! Sondra’s experiences are truly remarkable, and they raise so many questions about the nature of extraterrestrial contact and the boundaries between reality and perception. The detail about her childhood encounters, especially the early experience of levitation and the subsequent meeting with the mantis being, is both awe-inspiring and thought-provoking. It’s interesting how her early experiences seem to blend elements of innocence with complex themes of responsibility and awareness of future events, like the warnings about war.
I’m particularly curious about how these experiences shaped her worldview over the years, especially since she initially struggled to share her story and connect with other people. It’s also compelling to consider the psychological aspects of Sondra’s experiences, like how her interactions with the grays continued throughout her life and the patterns of missing or added time.
Additionally, the shift in her life following her husband’s admission about witnessing her interactions with the ETs adds another layer of complexity to her narrative. It emphasizes how these experiences can affect not just individuals but their relationships too. Sondra’s eventual choice to move to a rural area after receiving warnings feels like a testament to her belief in the guidance she received.
I’d love to hear more about how she processed these experiences as she moved through different stages of her life. Did they affect her career as a teacher? How did her perspective on her encounters evolve over time? It’s stories like Sondra’s that make one contemplate the mysteries of the universe and our place within it. Thank you for sharing such an incredible account!
