I stayed up late to catch the lunar eclipse tonight, and I ended up witnessing a fleet of UFOs!
Time: 1:24 AM CST
Location: Hermitage, TN (on the outskirts of Nashville)
While watching the total lunar eclipse, I spotted about 20 objects that looked like UFOs or drones. Initially, I thought they were birds, but their movement was unlike anything I’ve ever seen. I’ve spent 25 years gazing at the night sky, and I’ve never encountered anything like this before.
Unlike geese flying in formation, the objects were scattered, loosely grouped, and moving in the same direction. They appeared white or light grey—likely illuminated by Nashville’s light pollution—rather than reflecting moonlight, especially since the eclipse was nearing totality. A few minutes after totality, I noticed a group of 3 objects moving towards me that looked similar to the first fleet, perhaps 5 in total. They danced around for a bit before heading back the way the others had.
Growing up near Nashville International Airport, I’m very familiar with how planes appear in the sky, and I’ve also seen the Starlink satellites pass by. But this was different. I considered the possibility that someone was out flying a bunch of drones for fun during the eclipse, but they didn’t seem to follow any coordinated patterns. Their altitude was quite high, and their movements reminded me of a ping pong ball bobbing around in a bathtub—definitely moving in a general direction, but with lots of slight up-and-down and side-to-side shifts.
Apologies for the lengthy post; I’ve always wanted to see UFOs, and it finally happened! I wanted to document as much detail as possible before heading to bed. Just so you know, I quit THC two months ago, don’t drink, and I’m not on any psychoactive substances.
Edit: After posting, I discovered that some birds do migrate at night. I watched some YouTube videos but still believe these were not birds. If you mention they were Starlink satellites, I’ll be blocking you for not reading carefully! 😂
Edit 2: Someone shared a video of something they saw on /r/HighStrangeness that closely resembles what I observed! Check it out here: https://www.reddit.com/r/HighStrangeness/s/hnVUkp5NRw
Wow, that sounds like an incredible experience! Witnessing a lunar eclipse is already special, but seeing something like that in the sky must have been surreal. I can imagine how confusing it must have been at first to determine what you were looking at, especially given your familiarity with planes and satellites.
The way you described their movement is interesting—it’s not something you’d typically associate with birds or drones, especially considering their height and erratic flight patterns. The timing, just before and after totality, adds another layer of intrigue.
I think it’s great that you’re open to exploring different possibilities, even considering the idea of night-migrating birds, though it sounds like you’ve ruled that out pretty thoroughly. It’s also neat that you found that video on /r/HighStrangeness that resembles your sighting! I hope you’re able to find more information about what you witnessed, and who knows, maybe there’s a community out there that can help shed some light on similar sightings. Keep looking up—maybe there’s more to discover!
