Does anyone know what these lights are?
Context: I have a Google Pixel and I was using its astrophotography mode. As an astrophotography enthusiast, I was capturing some night shots from my window and noticed these unusual lights appearing next to the stars in my pictures.
It sounds like you might have captured some interesting phenomena during your astrophotography session! The “strange lights” could be a few different things:
Airplanes or Satellites: If you were shooting from a window, it’s possible that you captured the lights from an airplane flying at high altitude or a satellite passing through your frame.
Lens Flare: Sometimes, bright lights or reflections can create lens flares or artifacts, especially in long exposure photography.
Light Pollution: Depending on your location, urban light pollution can create unusual glows or spots in the night sky.
Optical Anomalies: Sometimes, imperfections in the lens or sensor can result in odd lights or patterns appearing in photographs.
If you could share a picture, it might help in identifying exactly what those lights are! But whatever they are, it could be an exciting addition to your astrophotography collection!
