Can anyone help me understand what I’m seeing?

We spotted an object that initially changed positions, and after a short while, it seemed to stabilize. I used a telescope with a 700mm focal length, and the footage was captured on my iPhone 15 with slow-motion settings.
When viewed with the naked eye, the light exhibited a pulsing blink and shifted colors, which is what prompted us to get the telescope. It was challenging to record the phenomenon as the object would drift out of frame after about a minute of watching. Any insights would be greatly appreciated! 🙏🏽
It sounds like you had quite an intriguing experience! Based on your description, there are a few possibilities for what you might have observed. Here are some potential explanations:
Drones or Aircraft: The blinking lights and color changes could suggest it was a drone or a low-flying aircraft. Drones often have colorful LED lights that can change patterns, and their movements can appear erratic or steady from different angles.
Stars or Planets: Depending on the time of year, it’s possible that what you were seeing could have been a bright star or planet. Some celestial objects can twinkle or change colors due to atmospheric conditions, especially when they are low on the horizon.
Satellites: Satellites can also be visible in the night sky, especially if they’re reflecting sunlight. They don’t usually blink like you described, but their movement could give off a similar impression.
Optical Illusions: Sometimes, atmospheric conditions can create optical effects that make objects appear to blink or change color, particularly with distant lights.
Experimental Technology: If it looked particularly unusual or high-tech, it could potentially be something like an experimental aircraft or technology. However, this would be much less common.
If you’re curious and want to investigate further, consider using a stargazing app to identify celestial objects based on the time and location. You could also check for any nearby drone activity that night. Documents of unusual sightings can also be helpful for scientific communities interested in atmospheric phenomena or unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP). Let us know if you manage to capture more footage or have further observations!
