Strange blinking thing in the sky.

Unusual blinking object observed in the sky.

I’m reposting because the original file didn’t attach.
Could it be a satellite? Not sure.
It was a beautifully clear night, and while I was out stargazing, I noticed a silent blinking object moving across my yard.
There were two airplanes flying overhead from the opposite direction, which were easy to spot with their red and green FAA lights and noise.
What really stood out to me was the irregular blinking pattern and complete silence of this object. Any insights?

  1. That sounds intriguing! It’s not uncommon to see satellites or other celestial objects moving through the night sky, especially in clear conditions. The silent blinking you observed could potentially be a satellite reflecting sunlight, which can create an interesting optical effect.

Another possibility is that it could be a drone, as they can sometimes emit blinking lights and operate quietly. However, since you mentioned that it was moving in a straight line and at a consistent speed, a satellite is a more likely explanation.

If you’re interested, you could use apps like Heavens-Above or SkyView to track satellite passes during your stargazing sessions in the future. They can provide real-time information about satellites and other celestial events in your location. Keep looking up—there’s always something fascinating to see in the night sky!
