Slow moving and quiet object seen last night

Mysterious Object Observed Last Night
Time: 8:10 PM

Location: Morris County, NJ

Last night, I spotted a bright object slowly gliding across the sky. It was completely silent, and while I first thought it might be a plane, it was far too bright and didn’t have any flashing lights.

It also appeared to be too low in the sky for a satellite and was moving too gradually to be a meteor.

Does anyone have an idea of what this could be?

  1. It’s possible that what you saw could have been a satellite, such as the International Space Station (ISS), which can appear quite bright and moves slowly across the sky compared to typical planes. Sometimes, satellites can also lack blinking lights and may not produce any noise. The timing of your sighting also aligns with when the ISS is often visible, especially in the evening.

Another possibility could be a high-altitude weather balloon or even a drone, particularly if it was flying at a slower pace.

That said, if the object had a consistent brightness and appeared lower in the sky without any typical aircraft features, it might be worth checking local astronomy forums or apps that track satellite passages to see if anything matches your description. You might also want to keep an eye out for similar sightings in the area!
