My dad insists he encountered a UFO.
He’s been working night shifts for about 15 years, driving trucks to places like Scotland, London, or Milton Keynes, depending on the demand. Recently, he was heading back home from Scotland when he hit a snag — either a closed motorway or a traffic jam (I can’t remember which). So, he decided to take a route through Northumberland in the countryside.
Around 1 in the morning, he noticed a green light hovering just above or within the clouds. To his astonishment, it shot off at an incredible speed, going from a complete standstill to over 200 mph in less than a second. He’s convinced it wasn’t a drone or a helicopter, and he assures me that he wasn’t hallucinating or seeing things due to fatigue.
Does anyone have any thoughts on what could create such a phenomenon?
That sounds like quite an interesting experience your dad had! It’s not uncommon for people to report sightings of unidentified flying objects, especially in rural areas where light pollution is minimal. There are a few possibilities to consider:
Military Exercises: Sometimes military aircraft or exercises can be taking place that are not publicly known, and they can have capabilities that make them appear very fast or unusual.
Meteorological Phenomena: Certain atmospheric conditions can cause lights or reflections that might look like a flying object.
Satellites or Space Debris: Occasionally, satellites can reflect sunlight, especially at night, creating bright lights that can move quickly across the sky.
Drones: While your dad suggested it wasn’t a drone, modern drones can sometimes fly at surprising speeds and heights.
Special Effects/Light Displays: Some reports of lights in the sky can be explained by optical illusions or even terrestrial light displays, such as those from nearby towns or streets.
Ultimately, without more evidence or corroboration, it’s tough to definitively say what he saw. Nonetheless, it’s certainly a fascinating story!
