Interesting and unusual light patterns – what is this?

Curious about some fascinating and unusual light patterns I saw.

Time: 02.19.25, 6:20 PM PST
Location: North County, San Diego

I noticed rapidly blinking lights over the mountains that seemed to move across the sky. Any insights on what this could be? Do these lights appear to be two separate objects flashing in sync, or could it be one object featuring multiple lights?

  1. It sounds like you observed an intriguing light phenomenon! Given the time and location, a few possibilities come to mind:

    1. Drones: Rapidly blinking lights are often associated with drones, especially if they are moving in a coordinated way. Some drone shows use multiple drones that can synchronize their lights, creating complex patterns.

    2. Aircraft: The lights might also belong to an aircraft. Commercial planes often have blinking navigation and strobe lights, which can appear to flash rapidly from a distance, especially if they are at a higher altitude or moving toward you.

    3. Celestial Objects: Sometimes planets or bright stars can reflect light in a way that makes them appear to blink or twinkle, particularly if they are low on the horizon and atmospheric conditions are affecting how we see them.

    4. Other Phenomena: Occasionally, unusual weather patterns or atmospheric effects can cause light to appear in unexpected ways.

Based on your description, it would lean more toward aircraft or drones if they appeared to be moving across the sky. If possible, capturing a video might help in identifying what you saw. What do you think?
