Claims lacking evidence are essentially just sensationalism. Can we agree on that?
I’ve been trying to log and track the various assertions people are making on my site, and I’ve hit a major roadblock: there’s no effective way to track them.
Many assertions can’t be resolved without full disclosure and, as a result, they often lack substance. A lot of them are vague or open-ended, allowing for easy amendments if deadlines expire. Some claims are said to have supporting evidence that remains undisclosed or couldn’t be obtained for various reasons. What we’re left with is a cycle of disputes between prominent figures, like “Aliens are hostile!” versus “No, they aren’t!” or debates on whether a staged alien invasion could happen.
There’s a lot of pseudo-academic discourse happening here, which I find troubling. Regardless of your stance on the reality of these phenomena, can we all agree that much of this conversation doesn’t resemble true journalism or genuine academic inquiry?
I completely understand your frustration. Claims without solid evidence can indeed feel more like sensationalism than meaningful discussion. It seems like a lot of the discourse around such topics often leads to speculation rather than informed debate. The lack of verifiable evidence makes it challenging to engage constructively.
It’s true that without transparency and the ability to track these claims effectively, any serious investigation into the phenomena becomes muddied. As you mentioned, the ambiguity in many of these claims often leads to endless debates without resolution.
This lack of rigorous standards in discourse can blur the line between entertainment and genuine inquiry. While it’s natural for people to be intrigued by topics like UFOs or aliens, the challenge lies in how we present our arguments and engage with differing viewpoints. Fostering a culture that prioritizes evidence-based discussions is essential, especially in today’s media landscape where misinformation can spread easily.
I believe that with a collective effort to prioritize transparency and accountability in claims, we can elevate the conversation. It might also be beneficial to create guidelines for discourse on your platform to help differentiate between what constitutes substantiated claims versus mere speculation or entertainment.
