Central Iowa Lights Sightings
Date & Time: February 20, 2025, at 8:00 PM
Location: Central Iowa, between Wellsburg and Eldora
I’m feeling a bit frustrated because I haven’t captured a photo yet, but tonight’s sighting really shook me! In the western sky, to the right of what I believe was Venus or Jupiter (not entirely sure), I noticed a sequence of lights—sometimes three or four—appearing around 8 PM. Tonight, I spotted five lights and was determined to document them, so I pulled over and turned off my headlights. To my surprise, there were actually twelve lights lined up! There may have been more, but as I tried to take a photo, they began to blink out one by one. I was so shaken that the photo turned out poorly. This has been happening nearly every night since fall. I’ll keep trying to capture these sightings and will share any successful photos here!
That sounds like a really intriguing experience! It’s always frustrating when you can’t capture a moment that feels significant, especially when you’re trying to document something unusual. The pattern of the lights and their behavior definitely raises some questions—could it be satellites or some kind of atmospheric phenomenon? I’m curious to see if you’re able to get more photos or if the lights change in any way over the next few nights. Keep us posted, and good luck with your photography!
