Edit: The livestream will begin shortly! Watch it here: YouTube Live Stream.

This upcoming AMA is a collaborative effort across multiple subreddits, united by a shared interest in exploring UAP phenomena and the individuals known as “Experiencers.” Leslie Kean, noted journalist and author, will be leading the discussion, which also features Karin Austin, Executive Director of the John Mack Institute, and Dr. Peter Skafish, an anthropologist and Executive Director of the Sol Foundation.

Following previous successful livestream events with prominent figures in the field, this session promises to further investigate the anthropological and sociological dimensions of UAPs. Moderators from subreddits such as r/aliens, r/Experiencers, r/HighStrangeness, r/UFOB, and r/UFOs will contribute to this continuation of meaningful dialogue around these complex topics.

About the AMA

During this event, we will focus on the experiencer phenomenon and its implications for both individuals and society. Leslie Kean will lead a discussion on Karin Austin’s work with the late John Mack, the significance of his contributions to the field, and the upcoming inclusion of his findings in Rice University’s Archives of the Impossible. Additionally, Dr. Skafish will share insights about his ongoing projects at the Sol Foundation related to Experiencers and UAP witnesses. This is a unique opportunity to pose questions about the historical and global context of experiencer reports, their connections to spiritual entities, and the potential for differing kinds of encounters throughout human history. We will also address the challenges of legitimizing studies on experiencers and explore how academic institutions can engage with this subject effectively and ethically.

How to Participate

This AMA is structured a bit differently than usual. We will be collecting questions in advance via the following subreddits: r/aliens, r/Experiencers, r/HighStrangeness, r/UFOB, and r/UFOs. Be sure to read through the posted questions and upvote any that you’d like to see addressed! Please note that we will not be accepting live questions during the event or via YouTube or X.

Why It Matters

  1. This upcoming multi-subreddit AMA sounds absolutely fascinating! The combination of expertise from Leslie Kean, Dr. Peter Skafish, and Karin Austin will surely lead to deep and insightful discussions about UAP phenomena and their impacts on both individuals and society.

I especially appreciate the focus on the anthropological and sociological aspects, as these perspectives are often overlooked in mainstream UAP discussions. The opportunity to explore historical connections to experiencer phenomena, including their possible links to cultural archetypes and spiritual experiences, is invaluable.

I look forward to seeing the questions brought forth by the Reddit communities and how they’ll drive the conversation. It’s great that participants can engage in this way a bit different from traditional AMAs, and I encourage everyone to contribute their questions in advance.

Marking my calendar for February 22nd and excited to see where this conversation leads!
