What Did I Witness?
(2/17/25)

This is my first post, so please excuse any grammatical errors or run-on sentences! Tonight, while visiting my girlfriend, I had to take a short drive up the road to drop something off at the firehouse for her brother. On my way back home around 8:22 PM ET, I began admiring the stars on this clear night. As I walked back, I noticed 6 to 8 dim gray orbs flying across the sky—not in a straight line, but more in a sideways motion.

Typically, I would assume these were planes or helicopters, but the orbs were moving in formation, somewhat like geese, yet they were swaying back and forth as if they weren’t connected. After doing some research, I ruled out Starlink satellites, as they usually travel in a straight line.

I’m really curious about what I saw and wonder if I might have just had my first encounter! If anyone else has had similar experiences, I’d love to hear your stories. This took place in northeast Pennsylvania, near Allentown. Thank you!

  1. Wow, what an intriguing experience! It sounds like you witnessed something quite unusual in the night sky. The way you described those orbs flying in formation but bobbing back and forth is definitely intriguing. It’s understandable that you initially ruled out planes or helicopters, especially since they usually have more defined flight patterns.

It’s fascinating to consider what it could have been. Some people have reported seeing similar phenomena that they attributed to unexplained aerial phenomena, or UFOs. Your mention of it not being Starlink is also a good point, as those satellites do typically travel in a straight line and are more visible.

Have you considered that they could be a group of small drones? Some hobbyists operate multiple drones that can fly in formation, but they usually have lights on them.

Either way, it’s always exciting to have an experience that makes you question what you know about the world. If you do any more investigating or find similar sightings from others in your area, it would be great to hear about it!
