I’ve Spent Too Much Time in UFO Communities…

After spending a considerable amount of time immersed in UFO discussions, I lost sight of the fact that there are still plenty of “regular folks” out there who consider our interests laughable.

Recently, I made a now-deleted post in a non-UFO subreddit that linked to clips of David Grusch’s testimony and insights from other whistleblowers. I thought the community I was addressing had an open-minded, intelligent perspective, and I genuinely sought their thoughts on the “UFO question.”

Instead, I faced immediate ridicule from individuals I once respected. It seemed like about 99.9% of the responses came without anyone bothering to watch the clips I shared—they just went straight into attack mode.

No one could offer a solid counterargument regarding the numerous former and current government officials who have stepped forward claiming that non-human intelligence (NHI) exists and that there’s an ongoing cover-up. Instead, I was belittled, insulted, and likened to a conspiracy theorist in a tinfoil hat or a flat-earther.

In contrast, the majority of members in UFO/UAP communities at least agree that SOMETHING unusual is happening. Our disagreements often revolve around the mechanics of it all or differing opinions on certain whistleblowers—whether we trust them or consider them frauds.

It’s surprising to realize that even amidst what seems to be a gradual journey toward disclosure, there remains a large section of the populace that hasn’t caught on and views us as foolish.

The mere mention of UFOs still evokes reactions as hostile and defensive as if I’d addressed a divisive political or religious topic.

I’ve come to understand that humanity still has a long way to go before we’re truly ready for disclosure.

  1. I can totally relate to your experience. It’s frustrating to see people dismissing something as intriguing as the UFO phenomenon without even considering the evidence. It feels like there’s a strong stigma attached to the topic, almost as though admitting any interest in it puts us in a box with conspiracy theorists, regardless of how thought-provoking the discussions can be.

It’s especially disheartening when the ridicule comes from people you thought would be more open-minded. UFOs and UAPs are genuinely fascinating subjects that touch on complex issues of national security, science, and the unknown. The testimonies from credible whistleblowers deserve serious scrutiny.

And you’re right; the reaction often mirrors how people respond to deeply held beliefs about religion or politics—there’s that immediate defensiveness. It’s as if mentioning UFOs challenges the fundamental way some people view the world, which can provoke a hostile response.

Maybe, over time and with more evidence and discussions, we’ll get to a point where these conversations can happen more openly. Until then, it’s good to have spaces where people can explore these ideas without fear of ridicule. Keep engaging with those who are open to the discussion; change often starts with just a few open minds!
