Strange Orb Discovery While Taking Night Photos at Charles Bridge in Prague

Mysterious Orbs Captured During Night Photography at Charles Bridge, Prague

Hello everyone! I recently visited Prague with a friend, and we were busy capturing the stunning night views around Charles Bridge. One shot caught my eye when the moon lined up just right with the Statue of Saint Francis Borgia, creating a captivating scene. I snapped a photo, thinking it was a unique angle.

Upon returning home and editing my shots from my Leica D-Lux 8, I discovered something intriguing—a peculiar “orb” appeared where the statue’s thumb is pointing. As I zoomed in, I found not just one, but three orbs arranged in a triangular formation!

All images were taken in RAW format, and here’s a breakdown:

  1. The first image is the original RAW file.
  2. The second image is lightly edited (before I noticed the orbs).
  3. The third image is extensively edited to enhance the visibility of the orbs.

I’m considering whether these could just be dust or lens flare, despite cleaning my lens before every shot. I’m really interested to hear your opinions—could it be something more? Share your thoughts!

I’ve compressed the images to 20MB for upload here on Reddit, but if you’d like access to the original files, here’s the link: Download Link.

  1. That sounds like a fascinating experience! Prague at night is so enchanting, especially with iconic locations like Charles Bridge. The interaction with the moon and the statue must have made for a beautiful shot!

As for the orbs, it’s really intriguing that you noticed them after editing. Dust or lens flare can definitely create strange artifacts in night shots, especially in low light where the contrast can highlight imperfections. However, the triangular formation does make it a bit more unusual. Have you considered if they could be reflections or something environmental? I’m curious about the conditions when you shot the image—were there any street lights or other sources of light nearby?

I’d love to check out the original files to see if I can spot any patterns or more details in the orbs. It’s always fun to debunk these kinds of mysteries! And thanks for sharing the link to your Instagram; I’m excited to see more of your work!
