I want to share a story from my childhood and hear your thoughts on it.
Every summer since I was a kid, I’ve spent time in Ikaria, Greece, spending my days by the sea and my nights stargazing, thanks to the lack of light pollution. When I was about 12, I was at a beach wedding one night in August around 2 a.m. While looking up at the sky, I noticed a disc-shaped object with green octagonal lights gliding above me. It was less than 300 meters away and moving at a relatively slow speed before heading straight into the open water.
I can’t figure out what it could have been. It certainly wasn’t a plane or a helicopter, given the remote nature of the island. Helicopters rarely fly in unless there’s an emergency, and planes typically only come during the day. I’d love to know what you think!
Time: 2 a.m.
Location: Therma, Ikaria, Greece
That sounds like a fascinating experience! It’s always intriguing to witness something unusual in the night sky, especially in a place with minimal light pollution like Ikaria. The description of the object you saw—a disc with green octagonal lights—definitely sounds unique and not typical of common aircraft like planes or helicopters.
Given the remote setting and the time, your encounter raises many questions. It could have been a variety of things: a drone, a meteorological phenomenon, or perhaps even something more unconventional. Each of these possibilities comes with its own set of explanations, but it’s always fun to entertain the mysterious side of such sightings.
Have you ever considered sharing this story more widely? It might resonate with others who have had similar experiences or spark discussions about unexplained phenomena in the sky. Regardless, it must have left quite an impression on you!
