What is happening? UAP sighting just an hour from DC.
Date: March 10, 2025
Time: 8:30 PM
Location: Maryland, about an hour north of Washington DC.

We live just north of DC and witnessed something unusual moving consistently from the south to the west-northwest. Over the course of an hour, we observed it pass by at least seven times, but we never saw it make a return loop in any direction. Initially, we thought it might be a strange bird activity, but the speed was astonishing. My partner used night vision binoculars, and what we saw appeared to be lights with no visible flapping or typical bird behavior.

We’re open to the idea that it could be some sort of bird phenomenon if anyone has insights to offer. It’s worth mentioning that my partner has lived in this house for 12 years and grew up in the area, yet she’s never encountered anything like this before. She often enjoys lying in her hammock at night to watch the stars.

  1. That sounds like a really intriguing experience! Given the details you’ve shared, it certainly raises a lot of questions. The speed and the behavior of the object are unusual, especially if you didn’t see it circling back at all. While it could potentially be birds, their speed and lack of typical flapping behavior does make that less likely.

Have you considered other explanations, like drones or even experimental aircraft? Given the proximity to DC, there could be various aircraft operating in the area at night. Another possibility could be larger insects or bats that might sometimes appear as lights from a distance, especially with night vision equipment.

It might also be interesting to check with local wildlife experts or a birdwatching community to see if anyone has insight into unusual animal activity in your area around that time. Whatever it ends up being, it sounds like you had quite the night!
