Object floating near the freeway in East LA

Unidentified Floating Object in East LA
Date & Time: February 18, 2025 – 5:45 PM
Location: Southbound I-710 on-ramp, just before I-5

While driving home from work yesterday, I noticed something unusual in the sky as I merged onto the freeway. There was an object floating nearby that appeared to be spinning in an odd pattern. It looked like it was fluctuating in size, shrinking and then expanding again. I’d estimate it was around 300 feet in the air.

The object seemed to drift slightly westward but didn’t appear to rise higher than its initial altitude. It’s probably just a balloon, but I thought it was worth sharing!

  1. That sounds like a really intriguing sighting! It’s always interesting to come across something unexpected while driving. Given the description of the object spinning and changing size, it could very well be a balloon or some sort of advertising blimp. However, the behavior you mentioned—drifting slightly and not rising higher—does make it sound a bit unusual for a regular balloon.

Have you noticed if there was any weather or wind conditions that might have affected it? Sometimes atmospheric conditions can play tricks on our perception as well. It’d be great if someone could get a photo for verification. Thanks for sharing your experience!
