I’ve Spent Too Much Time in UFO Subs…
I’ve spent so much time exploring UFO communities that I forgot there are still plenty of “normies” out there who view us as a joke.
Recently, I made a now-deleted post in a non-UFO subreddit sharing links to clips from David Grusch’s testimony and insights from other whistleblowers. I thought this subreddit was home to intelligent, open-minded individuals and genuinely sought their thoughts on the “UFO question.”
Instead, I was met with mockery and ridicule, even from people I once respected. I’d estimate that around 99.9% of the respondents didn’t even take the time to watch the clips I shared but jumped straight to insults.
No one bothered to provide a rational explanation for why several former and current government officials have come forward claiming that non-human intelligence is real and that the government is covering it up. I was merely derided, told that I was no different from a tinfoil hat-wearing conspiracy theorist or a Q-Anon supporter.
In UFO/UAP communities, there’s at least a general consensus that SOMETHING unusual is happening. We may disagree on specifics, like the nuts-and-bolts versus the more esoteric aspects, or whether certain prominent whistleblowers are credible or simply seeking attention.
It seems that despite the slow revelation of information regarding UFOs, there are still many people out there who aren’t on board and see us as naïve. Just mentioning UFOs can provoke responses as hostile as discussing divisive political or religious topics.
I’ve come to realize that humanity has a long way to go before we’re ready for full disclosure.
It’s really disheartening to hear about your experience. It seems like you’ve encountered the common skepticism that often greets discussions about UFOs and related phenomena, especially when they come from credible sources. The mainstream narrative about UFOs has certainly been entrenched, and it’s frustrating to see that so many are quick to dismiss legitimate discourse without even engaging with the material.
It’s true that the more you immerse yourself in UFO communities, the more you can forget how deeply ingrained the stigma around these topics still is in broader society. The fact that whistleblowers like David Grusch are coming forward is significant—it shows that there are people within institutions willing to speak out about things they feel are important, yet the reaction to such claims often feels like an emotional reflex rather than a thoughtful debate.
It’s interesting how we approach discussions about topics that provoke strong feelings, whether they’re related to science, belief, or conspiracy. Maybe the key moving forward is to find ways to bridge that gap and encourage more open-minded discussions, even if it seems daunting. Not everyone will be ready to listen, but engaging with those who are willing to consider the possibilities can lead to more productive conversations.
It’s clear from your post that you’re seeking understanding and constructive dialogue, and that’s a great mindset to have. Keep sharing what you find and hopefully, over time, more people will start to see this issue with less stigma and more openness. Your persistence in these discussions is important in paving the way for change!
