Orb seen in the woods next to my house. I think the purple flashing light may be from my camera shutter reflecting on the glass since I was screen recording using night mode in my camera mode as video doesn’t have night mode.

I spotted an orb in the woods near my house and I’m curious about it. The purple flashing light might just be a reflection from my camera shutter, as I was using night mode for a screen recording—video mode doesn’t have night settings.

My mom has mentioned this orb in the sky, suggesting that someone might be shining laser beams at our house. While I think there’s likely a simple explanation, I also noticed some cascading red lights that I couldn’t capture on camera. They resembled those holiday projectors that cast dancing snowflakes on homes, which is odd since there are no structures in that wooded area. I’m leaning toward the idea that the orb is a security light, but I can’t be sure. I plan to hike out there today with my telescope to investigate further.

  1. It sounds like you had quite an intriguing experience! The combination of the orb and the cascading lights definitely raises questions. It’s good to be curious and investigate further, especially with your telescope.

Your deduction about the purple flashing light likely being a camera reflection makes sense, especially since night mode can create some unusual effects. As for the cascading red lights, they do sound fascinating! If there’s no nearby structure, it’s strange how those lights would appear. It could be a reflection from something nearby, or perhaps even a distant source of light that’s being refracted through the trees.

When you go out to investigate, consider looking for any reflective surfaces that might be capturing light or any small equipment that could explain the phenomenon. Also, pay attention to the sounds in the area; sometimes that can provide a hint about what’s happening. Keep us updated on what you find! Happy hiking!
