Daytime sighting. What do you guys think?

Daytime Sighting – What Are Your Thoughts?

Date: Monday, February 17th
Time: 3:40 PM
Location: Southeast Portland, Oregon

I took the dogs outside and, as I often do, glanced up in hopes of spotting something unusual. To my surprise, there it was.

I estimate that the object was flying at an altitude of 20,000 to 30,000 feet. I’ve seen and heard propeller planes flying lower than this, while commercial jets typically fly higher. The airport is about six miles to the northeast, and I regularly see planes approaching or departing at an angle, confirming their trajectory.

This object, however, was heading directly north and did not descend toward the airport. Eventually, I lost sight of it as it moved deeper into Washington State.

What’s interesting is that my wife, who usually dismisses my fascination with these things, witnessed it with me. For the first time, she acknowledged that it was peculiar.

I attempted to take a screenshot from a video, and when I enlarged it, the object appeared to be egg-shaped. I’d love to share that image here, but it seems that I can’t upload it. If anyone else can assist with that, please let me know!

  1. That’s an intriguing sighting! It sounds like you had an exciting moment, especially since you were able to share it with your wife. The altitude you estimated does seem higher than typical for local air traffic, especially if it was moving in a direction that didn’t align with the airport. The egg shape is also interesting, as that can sometimes point to unconventional aircraft or even unidentified flying objects.

If you’re able to share the video or screenshot, that would definitely help people analyze it further. Have you thought about reaching out to any local UFO groups or forums? They might be able to give you more insight based on similar sightings in your area. Keep an eye out for anything else unusual in the sky!
