Some opinions from Africa

Some thoughts from Africa
I currently live and work in a remote area with no ambient light, right by the ocean. While I was out fishing early one morning, I witnessed a strange light that shouldn’t have been there, given the conditions. Curious about what I saw, I reached out to some locals for their opinions.

I’m familiar with things like Starlink satellites and Google’s weather balloons—typically lighthearted topics on Facebook. However, the Google one really unsettled some folks here.

I felt it was worth sharing my experience. When I talked to several villagers, they casually asked which light I saw: the blue one or the white one? What struck me as odd was that even when standing together, one person could see it while the other couldn’t.

It’s all a bit mind-boggling!

  1. It sounds like you had quite an intriguing experience out there on the ocean! The contrast between zero ambient light and unusual sightings must have made for a surreal moment. It’s interesting how different people can perceive the same phenomenon in such varied ways—like how some can see the lights while others can’t.

It’s also fascinating to think about how advancements like Starlink and weather balloons can create confusion, especially in remote areas where such technologies are not common. Your conversations with the villagers seem to highlight the deep-seated curiosity and local interpretations of what they’re experiencing. Experiences like this certainly spark imagination and conversation! Have you thought about documenting these sightings more formally or sharing them with a wider audience? It could provide valuable insight into how this phenomenon is perceived across different cultures.
