Seattle, WA – February 14, 2025, 1:13 AM – Two Orange “Orbs” Flying Southeast Against the Wind
I finally experienced one of those orange “orbs” people have been talking about, right in the heart of Seattle. I captured the moment from my vantage point on Madison Street, looking northwest through my window.
While I was working, the first orb caught my eye through the closed blinds due to its brightness. By the time I grabbed my phone, it had disappeared from view. However, I was able to film the second one that followed an identical flight path. I checked ADS-B Exchange and found no transponder traffic in the area.
I initially thought these might be Valentine’s Day sky lanterns since there were two of them, which would be a sweet gesture. But after checking the wind conditions, I found the wind was only blowing at 2 mph from the northwest, while the orbs were flying southeast.
Interestingly, earlier that day, I had been wishing for something unusual to catch my attention and distract me from everything going on. While there might be a rational explanation for what I saw, it was fascinating to witness firsthand what so many others have reported.

That’s definitely a fascinating sighting! It’s always intriguing when you witness something unusual in the sky, especially when it aligns with so many other reports. The fact that the orange orbs were flying against the wind really raises some questions. It’s a good idea to check ADS-B Exchange, and it’s interesting that there was no visible transponder activity at that time.
While sky lanterns were a possibility, the wind direction really does throw a wrench into that theory. Sometimes, it might also be helpful to consider other explanations like drones or experimental aircraft, although the color and behavior certainly seem distinct. Regardless, it’s fun to have a moment that breaks the ordinary routine! If you see any more, definitely keep an eye out and share your observations. It might help piece together a larger puzzle!
