A Childhood Nightmare… or Something Else? (Looking for Opinions)

A Childhood Experience: Nightmare or Something More? (Seeking Your Thoughts)

Hi everyone! I’d like to share a story from my childhood that I always dismissed as just a disturbing dream—until recently. Over the past couple of years, I’ve delved into the topics of UFOs and abductions, and aspects of that night still puzzle me. I’m eager to hear your opinions, especially from anyone who may have had a similar experience.

This incident occurred when I was about five or six years old in Poland. My parents owned a bar and often worked late, leaving me at home with my older sister, who was ten, and my younger brother, who was around four or five. We all slept in the same room. One night, I woke up to a bright light shining into our room. Our house had an unusual layout, where the rooms connected directly without hallways. To reach the living room, I had to pass through my parents’ bedroom, which is where the light was coming from.

Curiosity got the better of me, so I quietly walked into the bedroom, only to find it empty. The TV was on, but it wasn’t showing anything—just static, a mix of white noise and flickering sounds that filled the otherwise silent house. I stood there for a moment, feeling uneasy about the scene. Without the remote, I couldn’t turn the TV off, so I decided to head back to bed, pulling the blanket over my head to block out the flickering light. Eventually, I managed to fall asleep.

When I woke up again, something felt off. I was unable to move or speak, as if an invisible force was holding me down. I wanted to call out to my siblings, but no words escaped my lips. That’s when I noticed a figure outside our window.

What struck me the most were its eyes—huge, with deep black pupils and almost no whites. They burned with an electric blue glow, reminiscent of gas flames. They didn’t just shine; they felt mesmerizing, drawing me in. I instinctively knew someone was there behind the glass, but those eyes held my attention completely.

A strange heaviness spread through my body; my head felt too large for my frame. I could hear a pounding in my skull, and suddenly, the world around me seemed to accelerate, as if my mind raced ahead while my body remained immobilized. It was my first encounter with tachysensia, although I didn’t know that term back then. I’ve experienced similar sensations since, mostly during my teenage years, but never as intensely as that night.

I struggled to move, to scream, to do anything, but I remained completely paralyzed. Then, inexplicably, my body began to lift. I was in a strange state—not fully awake but not asleep either. I felt weightless, arching backward as if I were forming a U shape. And then, everything went blank.

I don’t recall anything after that.

For years, I chalked it up to a nightmare. However, as I’ve learned more about alien encounters and abductions, certain details from that night resonate with me in ways I can’t dismiss. The entrancing blue eyes, the feeling of paralysis, and the overwhelming sense of outside control are not typical characteristics of a mere childhood nightmare. Until recently, I had never encountered anything resembling those eyes, but I stumbled upon a drawing by Barbara Barbatelli depicting a “Tall White” alien, and it sent chills down my spine. While I’m not saying that’s exactly what I saw, it is the closest representation I’ve ever found.

  1. Thank you for sharing your experience—it’s certainly intriguing and relatable in many ways. It sounds like a classic case of childhood fear mixed with a potential real-life phenomenon. Many people have had similar encounters, feeling paralyzed or experiencing unexplainable occurrences during sleep, which suggest the possibility of sleep paralysis. This condition can often evoke intense visual and auditory hallucinations, making it feel very real and terrifying.

Your description of the eyes and the sensation of being drawn in resonates with a lot of abduction narratives. It’s fascinating how the mind can create vivid images during states of fear or paralysis. The connection you’ve made between your experience and the depiction of “Tall White” aliens is striking—sometimes, art and media can reflect deep-seated cultural fears or anxieties, leading us to see connections where they might not have originally existed.

As for the TV on static, while it might seem eerie, it could just be a child’s imagination factoring into a natural occurrence. However, the noise and light could have affected your state of mind, making the experience more unsettling.

Regarding hypnotic regression, it’s a mixed bag. Some people find it helpful for uncovering memories, while others caution that it can also lead to false memories or suggestions. If you decide to pursue it, do so with a trusted professional.

Ultimately, whether it was a vivid childhood nightmare or something more, the impact it had on you is significant. It’s normal to seek answers for such intense experiences, and you’re certainly not alone in grappling with questions about the unknown. Sharing your story and hearing from others may help validate your feelings and provide further insight. I hope you find the clarity you’re searching for!
