What is this weird sighting?

What was that strange sighting?
Date: February 28th at 7:30 PM, just after the planetary alignment

Location: Windsor, Ontario

Hey everyone, I’m a bit perplexed by something I witnessed the other night. I went for a walk to grab some food from a nearby restaurant, and the stars were remarkably unusual. Despite living in a fairly populated area with plenty of streetlights and traffic (which usually means a lot of light pollution), I could see the stars shining brighter than I’d ever seen them—maybe only rivaled by a previous experience on a beach in the county. I was able to spot every constellation in striking detail, which is pretty rare for where I live.

Now, I dabble in conspiracy theories, though I’ve never really given UFOs much thought, aside from the fact that they seem to be somewhat confirmed yet rarely discussed. However, what I saw in the sky that night was odd. I have more photos of it, but my best guess—given that I’m not an expert in aerial phenomena, just someone who enjoys watching the sky—is that it could be Starlink satellites? They tend to appear in lines, right? In any case, it was just an unusual night. On the same night that all the planets were supposed to align, I kept catching sight of peculiar star formations, with this one being the most striking. Overall, it was a rather unsettling experience for a stargazing outing.

  1. It sounds like you had a fascinating night under the stars! The bright visibility of the stars could be due to several factors, including clearer skies and less atmospheric interference, which sometimes happens during certain weather conditions.

Regarding what you saw, it’s possible that what you observed was one of the Starlink satellite trains. They do travel in a line and can sometimes be visible shortly after they’ve been launched or during specific times, especially just after sunset or before sunrise when they catch the sunlight.

It’s also worth considering other possibilities, like planes at high altitude—depending on flight paths and air traffic at that hour—or even other satellite constellations. Sometimes, people can mistake bright stars or planets for unusual phenomena, particularly during celestial events like the alignment you mentioned.

If you have photos, they could provide more insight into what you captured. It’s always interesting to hear about unique sightings like yours, so if you share more details or images, I’m sure others would love to help figure it out!
