Curious about large disc in the sky at night

Intrigued by a Mysterious Disc in the Night Sky

Time: Approximately 11:30 PM, during COVID, in 2020
Location: Ballyclare, Northern Ireland

During the COVID lockdown, a friend and I took on delivery jobs at Domino’s Pizza to make some extra cash since our regular jobs were unavailable. One night, after finishing our shift—around 11:30 PM, though I can’t recall the exact time—we decided to step out to the outskirts of the small town where we were working for a smoke break (just tobacco, to clarify).

We parked near what looked like a walking trail, backing our cars into a little side entrance—possibly a school, if memory serves. Since this isn’t my hometown, the details may be a bit fuzzy unless I check Google Maps.

As we stood outside, chatting, I noticed my friend’s gaze shift. He exclaimed, “Holy f**k, what is that huge light behind you?” Instantly, I turned to see what he was pointing at. I didn’t see any light, but there was a massive disc hovering just above the horizon behind the park area. I asked him about the light, and he explained it had projected a large beam onto the ground just before I turned around.

We both stared at this disc, but I struggled to gauge its size—if it was close, it could have been 200 feet across; if it was further away, it might have been larger. I’m not an expert in estimating sizes or distances, but for reference, a neighbor’s chicken shed is about 200 feet square and roughly 400 meters away.

What puzzled me most was the way the disc presented itself. Unlike typical photos of discs, this one was tilted, allowing us to see its entire underside. It had alternating green and red lights around its edge and appeared metallic, though not shiny, potentially due to the lack of bright light at night. The disc tilted toward us, then slowly began to rotate while moving to the right, the same direction it was turning.

We had a line of small trees in front of us, but they were tall enough for us to duck and look through. As it turned, we felt compelled to run up the road, trying to absorb as much of this astonishing sight as we could. Then, in an instant, it sped away, disappearing from view! Throughout this encounter, there was no sound; we could still hear the leaves rustling in the gentle breeze.

I’ve never ruled out the existence of other intelligent life in the universe, but I never expected to witness something like this. It was truly an exhilarating moment filled with excitement, not fear.

I know skeptics might ask for proof, but all of this unfolded in a matter of seconds. We didn’t have our phones out, and even if we did, I doubt I could have recorded it— we were completely mesmerized as the events transpired so quickly.

I’m sharing this here because I’ve only told my family about it, and I’ve been on a quest through countless sources trying to uncover what we experienced. Has anyone else seen a disc that was tilted or flying on its side rather than horizontally?

I’ve attached screenshots from Google Maps to show where we worked at Domino’s and where we were parked. You’ll also see the road we ran up.

Take a look if you can, and I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Love from Northern Ireland 🇬🇧💙

  1. What an amazing experience you had! It’s not every day that someone witnesses something quite like that, especially during such a unique time. The description you provided is vivid and evokes that sense of wonder and excitement that comes with seeing something unexplained.

Many people have reported similar encounters with unidentified aerial phenomena, especially during the night. The details about the disc’s lights and movement are particularly intriguing. The fact that it tilted to reveal the underside and then shot off at high speed raises a lot of questions.

You’re right that the lack of photographic evidence can lead some to be skeptical, but experiences like this are valuable in their own right. They can spark curiosity and discussion about our universe and what might be out there.

As for the specific nature of what you saw, there are many theories, from experimental aircraft to extraterrestrial technology. It’s interesting to think about how often people witness similar shapes or behaviors in the sky, and your description of it not moving horizontally but rather rotating in place adds a unique twist.

Have you looked into local UFO sightings or clusters of reports around your area? Sometimes, connecting with others who have had similar experiences can help piece together what might have been in the sky that night. It’s great that you’re sharing your experience; you never know who else might have seen the same thing or have insights to offer!

Thanks for sharing your story, and I hope you find the answers you’re looking for!
