Every summer since I was little, I’ve spent my time on the beautiful island of Ikaria in Greece, where I would often sit by the sea at night and gaze at the stars, free from light pollution. One memorable night when I was around 12 years old, I attended a beach wedding. As I looked up at the sky around 2:00 a.m. in August, I noticed something unusual: a disc-shaped object with green lights in an octagonal pattern flying overhead. It was less than 300 meters away, moving at a relatively slow speed before heading straight into the open water.<\/p>\n
I can’t imagine what else it could have been. It definitely wasn’t a plane, and certainly not a helicopter, as the island is too remote for frequent helicopter traffic unless there was an emergency, which wasn\u2019t the case. Generally, there are no helicopters or planes flying over at that time of night. I’m curious to hear your opinions on what I witnessed! <\/p>\n
