I&#8217;ve been experiencing what I thought was sleep paralysis since I was a child. Multiple times a week, I wake up unable to move or scream, feeling like an entity is present in the room, accompanied by a humming or rushing sound. These are typical symptoms of the condition, and my wife often shakes me awake when she notices I&#8217;m having an episode.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s where it gets interesting: my first encounter with this phenomenon happened when I was around eleven years old, back in 1992. I was trying to fall asleep on the couch at our family\u2019s lake house on Lake Erie after watching an episode of <em>Unsolved Mysteries<\/em> about UFOs and abductions. About an hour later, I found myself unable to move or scream, and I felt the presence of beings around me. Though my memories are vague, possibly muddled over time, they resembled typical extraterrestrial entities.<\/p>\n<p>Initially, I dismissed this as just an overactive imagination fueled by the show and the intensity of experiencing sleep paralysis for the first time. However, seeing so many others recount similar episodes when they have encounters has me questioning whether there may be more to my experiences than just sleep paralysis. <\/p>\n<p>I\u2019d love to hear from anyone else who has had similar experiences or thoughts on this topic.
