I have several astronomy apps on my phone to help identify stars, and I even took an astronomy course in college just for fun! I\u2019m not claiming to be an expert by any means\u2014I don\u2019t know much! But I\u2019ve never encountered anything like what I saw last night.  <\/p>\n<p>While my partner and I were taking our dog for our last walk of the evening, I was, as usual, gazing at the stars while we chatted. Suddenly, I spotted an incredibly bright, vividly saturated orange orb. It was far larger and more luminous than any star in that area. I immediately turned on my flashlight and exclaimed, &#8220;Uh, what on earth is that?!&#8221; But before my partner could even catch a glimpse, it vanished!  <\/p>\n<p>The whole experience was over in an instant. It hovered motionless for a moment before shooting off over the horizon at an unbelievable speed\u2014much faster than anything I\u2019ve ever seen. There\u2019s no way it was a commercial drone or anything similar; it was just too quick! I can&#8217;t say for certain if it was a shooting star or a comet since I\u2019ve only seen those in videos, but this was different. It was extraordinarily bright, completely silent, and stationary for a brief moment before disappearing.  <\/p>\n<p>I know there have been a lot of similar sightings recently, and as someone who loves space and the mysterious, this encounter left me with more questions than answers.
