\nI\u2019m a long-time lurker on this subreddit, but this is my first post. I\u2019m from Virginia but currently visiting family in Wilson County, North Carolina. I\u2019ll do my best to detail my experience and the events leading up to this short clip\u2014I completely understand the struggle of capturing these moments on film, as they happen so quickly.<\/p>\n

Events Leading Up to the Clip:<\/strong>
\nPrior to filming, I was home alone for a few hours while my relatives ran errands. They mentioned spotting something hovering above the farm several miles away on their way back, but the object took off as they approached the driveway, which is rather long. I was disappointed they didn\u2019t try to record it since it was reportedly flying at a low altitude.<\/p>\n

Moments Before the Clip:<\/strong>
\nA few minutes after my relatives returned, my aunt, who was outside playing Pokemon Go, called me out to see the object, stating it was making \u201canother pass\u201d over the farm. When I stepped outside, I saw the object directly overhead at a surprisingly low altitude, but I couldn\u2019t discern any specific airframe. It had two white strobe lights on either side and alternating red and green lights at the front and back. The sound it emitted was unlike any aircraft I\u2019ve encountered before\u2014it produced a low-frequency “whirring” noise, which is quite clear in the clip due to the quietness of the countryside.<\/p>\n

During the Clip:<\/strong>
\nWhile I wish I could have filmed the “drone” sooner or recorded a longer segment, the short video captures its light pattern as it flew to the north-northwest of my position. I believe the audio is even more significant than the video itself; you can hear my Aunt remark, \u201cso it just filmed me out here playing Pokemon Go.\u201d Apologies for that\u2014she wasn\u2019t aware I was trying to capture footage of the object as quickly as possible. Besides her comment, the audio features the unique sound from the craft.<\/p>\n

Personal Opinion:<\/strong>
\nI\u2019m not jumping to conclusions about what this craft might be; I genuinely have no idea what I witnessed. That uncertainty is a major reason why I\u2019m sharing this clip here. I never thought I\u2019d experience something worthy of posting, but here we are. Even if I\u2019m mistaken and this turns out to be a recognizable commercial drone, government aircraft, or something else entirely, what I encountered was unusual enough that I wanted to get the community\u2019s input on it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
