My son and I followed suit and spotted numerous black dots overhead. I quickly pulled over and managed to take some pictures. The cloud cover was quite high, and the objects seemed considerably large. One by one, they appeared to vanish above the clouds. Based on my estimate, they were at least a couple thousand feet up. Since I live nearby Bessemer Airport, I&#8217;m familiar with what planes look like at various altitudes. A military friend speculated that these might be drones equipped with safety cages, but the number of them was intriguing\u2014 I counted 17 in my first shot (which isn&#8217;t the clearest). The entire sighting lasted about three minutes.
