While it’s somewhat lengthy, it features intriguing footage throughout. There are sections where the video shows the skyline mixed with dark patches, which I was trying to capture. These dark clouds stood out distinctly against the lighter, more normal-looking clouds surrounding them, primarily because no light filtered through the darker clouds, while glimpses of the skyline were visible through the rest.

Unfortunately, the clouds themselves didn’t come through in the footage.

To preemptively address some potential doubts: what I witnessed were not conventional aircraft, despite some red and green lights that may appear in the video. The clarity isn’t the best—some of the details were clearer to my eye than they appear on the recording, which was taken through double-glazed windows with my iPhone 12. I am well-aware of the lighting regulations for different types of planes.

Moreover, a number of these “lights” were either hovering or moving back and forth without changing altitude, and they were situated too low, given our proximity to the airport and the city buildings.

As we neared landing, one particular orange-hued light seemed to approach our plane, matching our speed until just before touchdown, at which point it slowed down and drifted away. It was far too close to be any regular aircraft. The lights resembled the fictional Jimmy Neutron character, with their outer sections spinning rapidly around the center. Additionally, some lights appeared to move in unison and held their positions in the sky, forming what looked like triangular formations.

Having flown in and out of Logan for 17 years, I’m quite familiar with the airspace in that area, and I’ve never encountered anything like this during any of my flights.

Unusual Lights Captured Over Boston: A Flight Perspective I filmed this video exactly a week ago as I was approaching Boston Logan Airport.
