The object was solid, roughly 18 inches long, and had a cylindrical shape with slightly tapered ends, somewhat resembling a pen. What struck us as odd was that it emitted a faint light trail behind it\u2014a type of glow that resembled a tracer\u2014but made no sound and maintained a perfectly straight trajectory. The speed was such that we both clearly observed it pass within about 20\u201330 feet before it vanished entirely.  <\/p>\n<p>After a moment of stunned silence, we began to confirm with each other that we had both seen something inexplicable. Just as we were piecing together this strange event, an explosion erupted in an alleyway only 10\u201320 yards away from our position. We felt the heat of the blast, but miraculously, there was no shrapnel or gunfire coming from that area. We attempted to communicate with our command, but no defensive action was initiated.  <\/p>\n<p>I can\u2019t shake the feeling that the sighting and the subsequent explosion were somehow linked.
