As I sat there lost in thought, I was suddenly jolted by an incredibly loud noise from directly above me. It sounded like a plane engine, but rather than the typical gradual increase in volume as it approaches, it was as if the noise had been switched on the moment it was directly overhead.

Curious, I looked up and was astonished to see a craft flying lower than any plane I’d ever seen in my 19 years living here. It was low enough that I could have easily read any markings on the underside of its wings without glasses. The lights were strikingly bright—two green lights on each wing and two white lights in the middle, all aligned in parallel, with no flashing at all. It was flying from south to north, while our local airport is directly west of my location. This object bore no resemblance to a commercial airplane and was about the size of a bus.

While my description might suggest a typical aircraft, the absence of sound until it was directly overhead is what compelled me to share my experience on Reddit. It was also concerning that it was flying so low and had no flashing lights. If you’ve seen the recent footage from a New Jersey woman who recorded a UAP while walking around a football field, this object looked strikingly similar. Unfortunately, my phone was dead, and I didn’t realize what was happening until the noise erupted above me, leaving no time to capture it on video. The dense trees in Mississippi also limited my view to about 10 seconds.

Afterward, I moved to my parents’ backyard to see if there was anything else noteworthy in the sky. At first, I noticed nothing unusual, although I could hear what sounded like another plane overhead but couldn’t spot it. This lasted for about five minutes, and then the noise abruptly stopped.

Eventually, I spotted another craft at a much higher altitude—an aircraft flying at the height typically used by commercial planes. While it appeared normal, I continued to watch it pass overhead. Unlike the first object, this one had flashing lights—red and white—in a regular pattern that soon became erratic and unpredictable.

To clarify the flashing patterns:

Initially, it flashed red once, followed by white once, repeating this sequence.

Then it shifted to white three times, followed by red once, white four times, and red three times, continuing with no discernible pattern typical of commercial planes.

This second craft was traveling from northwest to southeast.

Now, what happened next is where things get bizarre. I hesitated to share this part because it sounds unbelievable. Suddenly, a small white dot, moving at a speed akin to a shooting star, collided with the second craft, producing a bright flash that reflected off the clouds above. This third object came from north to south before impacting the plane. Remarkably, the second craft showed no sign of disturbance; it continued on its path without changing course until it vanished from my sight.

I was in disbelief at what I had just witnessed. I initially thought it might have been a shooting star, but this object approached from beneath the cloud cover, and light pollution in the area makes seeing shooting stars quite challenging.

I’ve spent considerable time observing the night sky since reports of UAP sightings began in December, but I had not seen anything until tonight. I had started to think that recent sightings in the northeastern U.S. were the result of public hysteria and misidentifications. Many videos seem to show planes, but numerous witnesses say something feels off, which can only be truly understood in person. The first craft I saw tonight matched these reports, appearing like a plane but with irregular noise, low altitude, and unusually bright lights. The second craft, however, has left me baffled.

Has anyone else encountered something similar or have any insights into what I experienced?

UAP Encounter in Mississippi After a family dinner at my parents’ house, I settled into my truck to drive back to my apartment.
